DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LUANG PRABANG – WELCOME TO LAOS

Upon arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in this charming World Heritage town nestled among misty mountains and rivers.

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax, recover from your journey, and prepare your camera gear for the adventure ahead.

DAY 2: LUANG PRABANG MONASTERIES & PAK OU CAVES BY MEKONG BOAT

This morning we begin exploring the architectural and spiritual heart of Luang Prabang, focusing on its most photogenic monasteries and temples. Stroll through serene courtyards and golden prayer halls while capturing timeless Buddhist life.

After lunch in town, we board a traditional longboat and journey upstream along the Mekong River to the mystical Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of sacred Buddha images.

On the return cruise, we will stop at riverside villages, offering wonderful opportunities to photograph daily river life and interact with friendly locals.

DAY 3: KUANG SI WATERFALLS & EVENING LANTERN PREPARATIONS

As this is one of the holiest days in the Lao calendar, we will see large crowds of locals offering food to the monks in a deeply moving procession. To ensure the best photographic experience, we position ourselves away from tourist crowds.

After breakfast, we visit a traditional pottery village to photograph local craftspeople at work.

In the late afternoon, we head out for the magical Festival of Light. Photograph Buddhist monks and villagers lighting hundreds of paper lanterns, and continue shooting through sunset, blue hour, and deep night, as the glow of candles and lanterns transforms the city into a living dreamscape.

DAY 5: MAHOUT EXPERIENCE, IMAGE REVIEW & MEKONG SUNSET

After an optional early Tak Bat near the hotel, we travel to a tranquil riverside environment for a unique mahout experience, photographing a local mahout bathing his elephant β€” a powerful and emotional wildlife photography opportunity.

Return to town for lunch. In the afternoon, we enjoy a group image review session, including feedback from the workshop host and a live post-production demonstration.

DAY 6: STREETS OF LUANG PRABANG & BOUN HEUA FAI (FIRE BOAT FESTIVAL)

This morning is dedicated to street photography in Luang Prabang. We explore:

In the late afternoon, we witness the incredible Boun Heua Fai (Festival of the Fire Boat). Villagers carry enormous illuminated paper boats through town to the banks of the Mekong River before releasing them downstream. Β DAY 7: HMONG VILLAGE & TRANSFER TO NONG KHIAW

After a light village lunch of traditional sticky rice, we continue our scenic 3-hour transfer to Nong Khiaw, our base for exploring tribal regions over the next few days.
