Camera Settings
Shoot in RAW format. At launch (very low light), use ISO 800–1600, f/2.8–f/4, and shutter speed 1/100s minimum to avoid basket-motion blur. As the sun rises, drop ISO to 200–400 and shutter to 1/500s for sharp temple details.
Composition
The most powerful shots frame one large temple close-up with the plain spreading behind. Position yourself at the basket edge facing east for the sunrise light. Use other balloons as foreground elements — a balloon drifting over a temple spire is the iconic Bagan shot.
Phone Photography

What happens if the flight is cancelled due to weather?
All licensed operators offer a full rebooking on the next available date or a complete refund if weather prevents flying. Pilots make the go/no-go decision by 4:45 AM on the morning of your flight. This is why we recommend booking a minimum of 3 nights in Bagan — to allow for at least one buffer day in case of weather cancellation.
Is the balloon safe? What are the safety standards?
All licensed Bagan balloon operators operate under Myanmar's Civil Aviation Authority standards and are inspected annually. Long sleeves are recommended to protect from the burner heat when it fires above you.
