Day 1: Yangon arrival 

Mingalarpar! Welcome to golden land of Myanmar!

Upon Arrival, our guide will welcome you for your hotel transfer. Enjoy your very first visit to the most outstanding monument in Yangon: Shwedagon Pagoda. This is a prominent historical site where you can enjoy panoramic view of the city and experience the local religion.

If you wish stay for dinner at one of the Thai, Burmese or Chinese restaurants here or take a short drive to Le Planteur or The Strand Grill, two top restaurants in Yangon. (Own account)

Day 2: Yangon – City tour 

This morning, we explore the charm of Yangon city starting from Sule pagoda to Colonial buildings including City Hall, Emmanuel church. Then you will have lunch a local teashop to enjoy Burmese tea and its traditional culture.  You will visit to a popular tea shop which has a variety of Burmese traditional snacks and noodles. We’ll have tea and an assortment of snacks and noodles. Some of the famous dishes are: Mont Pyar Tha Let (rice pancake), Mont Leit Pyar (wanton-like parcels of bean and jaggery), Shwe Htamin (Golden sticky rice), Mohingar (rice noodle with fish soup- Myanmar’s ‘national’ dish) and Own Noe Khauk Swe (yellow noodle with chicken and coconut soup).

In the afternoon, we will do some shopping at Scott market, the biggest market in Myanmar, being famous of its gems, jewelry, handicrafts then to Chinese temple and town.

Nearby is 19th Street, a popular place to have draught Myanmar Beer, together with vegetable and meat sa-tays (BBQ), in the evening. Enjoy a beer and a light snack here.

Day 3: Yangon – Bagan temple plain 

This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to the ancient capital of Bagan, one of Asia’s most extraordinary destinations. Head into the vibrant Nyaung Oo Market, the economic center of Bagan. At this bustling market, locals meet daily to buy and sell a variety of goods, from fruit and vegetables to clothing, china, and lacquerware. Our guide will show you different kinds of herbs and vegetables which are used for Burmese cooking.

Next we’ll visit a Pone Yay Gyi shop, Bagan’s most famous food treat and you continue to the gold-plated Shwezigon Pagoda, Bagan’s greatest reliquary, built to house relics of the Buddha brought from abroad. Lunch at La Min Thit Burmese restaurant

Next, drive to the small village of Wetkyi-in to see the wonderful Kubyaukgyi Temple, renowned for its ancient murals. Take a horse-cart ride to Ananda Temple, home to four great, gilded Buddha statues.

Day 4: Bagan – Tour 

Spend your full day exploring the remainder of Bagan which consists of more than 2500 temples and pagodas. This archaeological site brings us to the scared history of ancient Bagan capital with the development of Buddhism.

For lunch we head out of town to a palm garden and visit the family of toddy palm climber. It is a good opportunity for you to observe simple ways of life of toddy climbers and their daily routine in the palm garden.

As we travel further into the land of temple spires, Htilomino, Gawdamgangyi temples will attract your sense of curiosity with a profound impression. The highlight of this day is the sunset from the second highest temple the Shwenandaw.

Day 5: Bagan – Mandalay – Mingun – Royal Ancient Palace 

Board the flight to Mandalay in the morning. Start your sightseeing today with a boat ride upstream to Mingun, home to Uncomplete Wall, Sandamuni pagoda and Mingun ringing bell.

Our local expert will be pleased to introduce you the life of people who live on the banks of Irrawaddy River.

Take a break from sightseeing to discover another uniquely Burmese culinary treat: Le Phet Thoke. Eaten as snack, as a desert or even together with rice for a meal Le Phet Thoke, is a local salad made from fermented tea leaves.

Lunch we will stop at Min Thiha tea shop, which is a popular tea house in Mandalay serving two of the city’s most famous dishes: Mandalay Monte and Khotaung Monte.

After lunch, we will discover the royal Mandalay vestiges and relics covering imperial Palace, Golden Palace Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda also known as the world biggest book. The highlight of this day is the panoramic sunset from the peak of Mandalay Hill.

Day 6: Mandalay Ancient Capitals ( Inwa & Sagaing) 

Our guide meets you at your hotel and transfer you to a local market with a shopping list prepared by our chef. Spend time exploring the stalls where fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and meats are for sale as well as chilies, pastes and other sauces used in local cuisine. Your guide will explain the various ingredients and help you pick out the plumpest chicken, freshest fish and finest vegetables to use in your cooking class.

Return to the local restaurant where you will meet the local chef.  A cooking area is set-up for the class. Along with the chef, prepare the ingredients and use traditional techniques (such as mortar and pestle) to cook several Burmese favorites. During the demonstration you will also learn more about the cuisine of Myanmar, its influences and the typical eating habits of the local people.

After having prepared the dishes it’s time to sit down and enjoy a feast of freshly prepared delights. Enjoy your lunch.

This afternoon, we will travel to Ava, Amarapura to discover the Maha Aungmye Bonzan, Gabaya Monastery, Leaning Nam Myint Tower and the nearby attractions. Enjoy a walk over U Bein bridge, the longest teak wood bridge in Myanmar.

Day 7: Mandalay – Heho – Inle Lake 

Embarking on a flight to Heho, you will enjoy a scenic drive to Nyang Shwe. Start with a visit to the Nyaung Shwe morning market where locals gather every morning to buy and sell fresh produce from the lake and its surroundings.

Then you will embark on a beautiful boat trip to explore the life of Intha people whose image exposes vividly through one leg rower.

Proceed to a traditional Inthar House at Tharlay village where you will spend time preparing the dishes with the family

Spend our time to know about local traditional work such as making boat, black smith, silk weaving and enjoy the uniqueness of Jumping Cat pagoda. Come back to your resort for an awesome sunset time.

Day 8: Inle Lake – Indein – Pa O village – Fly to Yangon 

Visit one of the most unique market on Inle lake which happens 5 days in different villages in Inlay area.

From the market, we continue by boat to Khaung Daing village on the northwest coast of the lake. This village is famous for its traditional Shan tofu – fried tofu crackers and folded, triangular tofu treats. We’ll be able to watch (and perhaps participate!) as they sift the soy beans, boil them, mash them into balls then form tofu cakes to dry in the sun. This is a fabulous taste of local life on Inle Lake.

Proceed to Nyaung Shwe – have lunch at View Point Restaurant. Then visit Red Mountain Estate Vineyards and Winery, which is located at the north eastern part of Inle Lake. Enjoy magnificent view of Inle Lake and its stilt villages while you taste Red Mountain Estate wines. You will also observe the grape varieties grown in the estate.

Transfer to airport for flight to Yangon. On arrival, get a pick up to hotel.

Day 9: Yangon – Departure 

Breakfast at your hotel. This morning, you will start with a visit to a local market with an experienced chef.

Here you will learn about the various spices, vegetables and other ingredients used in Burmese cuisine and select and buy the necessary items for your personal cooking lesson. Return to Monsoon Restaurant where your qualified chef will guide you through the preparation of several popular Myanmar dishes. Then enjoy your own prepared delicious Burmese meal. Relax till meet our driver to take a transfer airport for your next flight.
